Outbreak of malaria occurred this year in Yambio. Hospitals were overwhelmed by the number of cases and with the rainy season more cases will occur. Malaria is the leading cause of illness and death in children under five years. Almost 95% of South Sudan is endemic of malaria, with a high transmission in the country throughout the year. The staff at the Buckeye Clinic were extremely busy giving treatment this summer. Staff member David Chol reported some very unfortunate news. A 14-year-old girl died despite the efforts of the staff.
