“Maternal mortality in South Sudan is one of the highest in the world.” Stated UNICEF’s Chief of Health and Nutrition in South Sudan. Because of the Buckeye Clinic’s work in hiring a trained Nurse Midwife, the clinic’s record of saving lives is quite outstanding. For the first year there were 118 births compared to 9 the previous year. What is more impressive is the clinic’s success in safely delivering two sets of twins whose chances of survival were ensured because of the clinic’s trained staff.
