On Saturday, February 25 the Buckeye Clinic continued to respond to the food shortage in Piol, South Sudan.  Flooding damaged most of the crops this year, so the Buckeye Clinic has continued to provide food.  A total 13,795 pounds of rice, beans, sugar, salt, cooking oil, and four boxes of soap were distributed to 7,275 people.  Since April, 2014, 14 food deliveries have distributed over 170,000 pounds of life saving food.  When the civil war stated in December 2013, people fled the village for the safety of the area near the Nile River.  They fled before the planting season, so there were no crops to harvest when they returned.  The Paramont Chief in the area requested that the Buckeye Clinic provide food to encourage people to return to the village.  Little by little people began to return to the village because of the availability of food distributed from the Buckeye Clinic.
